Playing a DVD movie after years of mostly streaming is hilarious. Booting directly to the content is so much nicer. The menu is just junk.

Similar to booting a console game for the first time. After that it's all restore from hibernate. Install / load times and menus stink.

Mobile games almost have it right, but most have some type of menu/title screen. Why? You're not waiting for someone to drop in a quarter!

Let's learn from YouTube/Netflix and just boot straight to gameplay. If the player needs to change something, make it easy to do from there.
